A long time ago in Michigan we had a holiday party.
The adults were happy or unhappy.
The children were chaotic.
I was happy being with my girl cousin, one year older than me, until my other girl cousin, one year older than her, arrived. She was dressed way cooler than me, even at eight I knew this to be true and the cousin a year older than me of course wanted to be with this cousin.
I was sad.
